Citrus plants are a fun and rewarding hobby to grab ahold of! Here in VA, all citrus are considered tropical and would need to spend the colder months indoors. The general rule of thumb is to transition your citrus plant indoors or outdoors when the temperatures are roughly the same, likely May and October. Your citrus plant will survive 100% indoors but will certainly love our Summer sunshine outdoors too! Citrus are heavy feeders and need to be fertilized often during the fruiting season. Tip: Plant your citrus in a decorative plastic or lightweight pot so that it is easier to transition indoors and outdoors when necessary.
